Review of Moana 2016

As the movie starts, a person is telling a story about demigods. There was a Te Fiti who was a goddess and she made all the islands in the sea. She made island like a paradise for people to live on them. A demigod named Maui stole the stone which is actually a heart of Te Fiti. But on his way to escape, he encounters earth god. Maui fights with his powerful hook but got stroke down into the sea. He and his hook got lost and also the stone. Grandmother is telling this to little children as we can see in the movie. As the stone is removed from its place, many islands are now losing fish and food. Then there is a little girl who is granddaughter of the person telling the story. She is also the daughter of chief of the island. Her name is Moana. She is always walking toward the sea but her father forbids her. As she is toddler, she goes to sea and sea starts playing with her. Accidentally, she actually finds the green stone which is the heart of Te Fiti. But her father takes her back to village and stone gets lost again.

A song starts and she gets bigger and bigger. She tries to sail away from the island but her father catches her every time. Moana grows up to be woman at the end of song. She would take the place of her father and lead the people of her island. This can be done by putting a stone on a stack of stones as her father did. But her heart is in the sea. One day, people come to the chief and tell him that there is no more fish in the water. And also coconuts are diseased. Moana says that we should look for fish beyond the reef. But her father refuses. So one day, she takes a boat and goes beyond the reef in search of fish. She gets strike by waves and her boat gets destroyed.

On the shore, her grandma comes up to her and shows her green stone. Same stone she held in her hand when she was toddler. She gets surprised. Her grandma tells her about the cave in which there are many ships. Moana finds out that her people were voyagers. She goes to her dad who is sitting in a meeting tell him all about what she has learned. Her father gets upset and goes to burn the ships. Moana grandma gets sick and she gives her neckless along with stone to Moana and ask her to find Maui. Moana left her village and set sail to find Maui. On the way, she gets knock off by a storm and lands on a small island. She finds Maui there. Maui tells her that he stole the stone for humans, so that humans can be in control of power. Maui has no interest in returning the stone. So he cunningly traps Moana in a cave and escapes in her boat. Moana escapes from a hole and sea helps her get to the boat. 

In the ocean, they encounter coconut pirates. They want the stone. Maui and Moana escapes them. Without the hook, Maui has no powers. So they go to the island where Maui’s hook has been captured by a giant crab. Moana distracts the crab and Maui takes his hook back. They set sail for Te Fiti. When they reach Te Fiti, there comes an Earth lava monster who stops them from entering the island. Maui’s hook gets crack and refuses to help Moana. He flies away changing into eagle. Moana decides to return stone by herself. She makes it to Te Fiti but she is gone. Moana then realizes that monster is actually Te Fiti. So she put the stone back and monster turns back to Te Fiti. Everything gets restored. Lots of greenery everywhere. Moana returns home. The whole village starts sailing again.

Review of Arrival 2016

The movie begins as we see Amy Adams with a baby. Then the baby grows up in the next scene. Almost as old as a toddler. After that, we see baby as a grown woman. A doctor is examining her. Girl is lying on the bed with no hair. And she is dead. Amy enters in the lecture hall. I think she is professor. She starts talking about Portuguese. There are few students sitting and their phone starts ringing. Amy ask them if they want to share any news. A student says, turn on the news channel please. On the news, we hear reports of unknown objects landing on different regions of the world. A total of 12 objects have landed on earth in different locations. Amy is watching news, suddenly university safety alarm rings and whole university is being emptied. Amy goes to her home and talks to her mom on phone. Mom tells her to be careful. We see jet fighters flying in the sky. On the news, we see lots of people in the streets from Venezuela. Amy goes to sleep. Next morning, she goes to university but there is nobody to be found. Three men walks in the Louise office. Louise is the name of Amy in the movie. 

Colonel Weber is one of the man and he says that you have clearance in the government matters. Weber plays a recording in front of Louise. There are some noises in the recording. These are the aliens speaking. Weber wants her to translate it. She has translated for government before. But this time she says that she needs to be at the spot to translates the language. Weber refuses and says he is going to some other translator and leaves. Amy comes to her home and its night and she is sleeping. Suddenly, a military helicopter arrives at her door step in the middle of the night. Weber is at the door. He decided to take her to Montana. Amy packs her stuff and sits in the helicopter. A physicist name Ian Donnelly is also in the helicopter and he reads from book written by Louise. Ian Donnelly is actually Jeremy Renner. Helicopter lands at a military camp set near space ship of aliens. Space ship looks like a black egg floating in the air. 

Amy and Ian are asked to give their electronics and then they move to a medical room. A military person takes their blood sample and give them some medicines to avoid any bacteria attack. He also tells them about the side effects. After that, both of them wear an orange suit for protection. After every 18 hours, a door opens of the ship. They ride in a vehicle to the space ship. Door opens and they go into the ship. Gravity is very low inside the ship. So everybody starts floating and walking on the side walls of the ship. At a point, they reach a huge window. They see two aliens coming to the window and making lot of noises. Amy is terrified from the beginning and is breathing heavily. So they see the aliens and return to the base. Amy starts to analyze the sounds on computer. 

Then next time they again to the ship and tries to communicate with aliens. Louise writes her name on a big card and show it to alien. Same thing Ian does and in response, both of the aliens write their names on the transparent window with a smoky fluid emitting from one of the legs. Their language is like circles with small variations to the design. Each and every word is in shape of circle, even whole sentence is in shape of circle. So in this way, Louise translates many words of aliens. Louise is having flashbacks of her deceased daughter who died of cancer. Louise is also having anxiety problems. One point Louise falls in a chair and Weber asked her to go to doctor and get checked up. But she says I am fine just, need some air and goes out. Then we find out that China is on the offensive side. China wants the aliens to go out of their country. In the next session with aliens, we find out their purpose. Their answer is ‘offer weapons’. So this news got leaked and causes panic in the world. 

Some soldiers plant a bomb in the ship by watching too much news. Then after that Louise and Ian goes to talk to aliens without knowing the presence of the bomb. When some seconds left before explosion, alien pushes them away from the blast radius. Amy wakes up in hospital. Before the explosion, aliens write so many data on the window which was captured by the camera. So after waking up, Amy and Ian look at the data and it would seem like that it will take them years to translate it. Ship also elevates a little from the surface of the earth. So we see Louise going near the elevated ship and a small ship comes and take her to big ship. Louise asks the alien where is the other one. Alien replies that he is in death process. Louise ask alien for their purpose. Alien replies that we need human help in the future. Louise asks but how can you see the future. It replies that Louise sees the future. Then after that Louise returns to surface and has kind of flashback with a small girl. 

In the flashback we learn that she can know when something is going to happen in the future. She says to girl that you will have a rare disease. Girl says can you stop it and flashback ends. Louise learns that their weapon is actually a gift of their language. Aliens don’t see time ass linear as we do.  Holy crap!!!! We find out that those flashbacks were actually visions of the future. We see Ian and Louise together and having a daughter and so their story begins. Despite knowing what will happen, she still follows the path. Amazing film that’s why nominated in Oscars.

Max Steel

Review of Max Steel

 

In the beginning of the movie, we see Max sitting on the roof top of his house. His mom asks him, what are you doing up there? We see a small moving truck filled with boxes. Max and his mother is moving to their house. Then son and mother starts talking to each other. Max finds a picture of the whole family in which he is a baby. His father is also in the picture. Suddenly there is fluctuation in the electricity. Max mom says she is going to call electrician. Max is sitting close to a TV and as he moves his hand closer to screen, there is distortion occurring in the screen.

Next morning, Max leaves the house for his new school. On the way, he stops at a restricted building. Looks at it and then rides his bicycle towards the school. Max is listening to music and suddenly a truck hits him. He falls on the grass. A girl comes up to him and says meet me here after school, I will look at that bike. We see a professor teaching a class. Max comes to class. Professor asks him about his father and says that he was a good man. After school, girl picks up Max and his bike. They go to girl’s place and girl fixes his bike. Max returns home and sees a man sitting with her mom. Mom introduces Max to Miles. Miles used to work with Max’s dad. After that, we see two men playing table tennis. Something starts glowing inside a lab. Man says it has not glowed for 16 years. Then something pops up like a small robot and starts damaging the lab. Meanwhile, Max is having dinner with Miles. Miles tells Max’s mother that Max should know the truth but mother refuses. Miles leaves Max his N-TEK card and says you are welcome to visit anytime. 

Then Max goes to his laptop and searches about the accident in which his father has died. He found a video in which people are running. Suddenly his laptop stops working and his hand starts emitting some kind of waves along with blue light. He freaks out. Next morning, he goes to forest with lamp and stereo player. His hand starts messing with them and eventually catches fire. He goes to school, he is sitting closer to vending machine and lots of soda cans pops from the machine. Girl invites him to a place to eat. He says OK. He finds the place and meet the girl. Suddenly he starts feeling weird and runs from there. He goes to a forest. A big explosion occurs and next thing is, he wakes up in his bed. He finds a weird looking symbol on his chest. Suddenly a robot named Steel appears and Max freaks out. Robot says it is from space and here to protect Max. Max emits tachyon energy which robot absorbs to avoid explosion. Robot says you will be emitting this for the rest of your life so you need me. 

Guys appear from nowhere and starts shooting at Max. They run to save themselves. Max sees a memory from Steel. Ultra links are bad things that destroys everything. Max sees them in memory. Max goes to restricted area and starts discovering his abilities. His power becomes stronger and he can move really fast. He attaches himself with Steel and together they form a cool superhero shape man. On the way, they get chased by black cars. Max wants to go to N-TEK. 

Sophia meets Max on the way and they decide to go together. Max don’t feel good and run again from there. Max encounters a hurricane created by Ultra links. He fights it with Steel and defeats it. Max comes to home and sees lot of men with guns at his house. He starts running and goes to Sophia house. He takes her truck and goes to lab where his father worked. His mother tells those men to find her son. Those men tell Max’s mother that Miles has ordered to kill steel. Max goes to lab and find Steel trapped in a chamber. Max gets a flashback in which he finds out that Miles work with Ultra links and has betrayed his father. So Miles and Max fights. Miles has made suit of his own. Max defeats Miles in the end. Max goes to Sophia’s house and gives her a drawing of herself.
